Thank you Richard for such an inspiring demonstration.
Richard is an artist who really makes his watercolour paintings zing with life. He works by wetting the paper first and then lets the pigment move and disperse. For this painting he worked with a limited palette of blues, with a little green for the water, to create a very atmospheric painting. Notice the way the light is catching the sails and the hull of the boat making it so 3D. He achieved the glistening effect on the sea by using dry brush strokes.
