Welcome to the WAG Newsletter

Waterside Art Group Autumn 2018 Newsletter

Dear Members and Friends

With the leaves falling it seems like a good time to pull a few art group events together into an autumn newsletter.

First, it is really encouraging to see so many of you turning up on Tuesdays and having a really sociable time.  We are especially pleased to welcome our new members and potential new members.  We hope you have a great time with us.

Our 2018 summer exhibition

The committee is very pleased that the decision to hold our exhibition during Hampshire Open Studios (HOS) resulted in a more or less doubling of visitor numbers and good sales.  Once again, we would like to thank you all for contributing to such a successful event.  We can let you know that we have decided to align with HOS again next year.

Our 2019 Calendar

Our calendar has been very well received by the community and we can report that the final few have now been sold by The Herald.  The proceeds from sales will enable us to fund good quality demonstrations, the costs of which are increasingly exceeding the revenue taken at the events.  We should also be able to hold our subscriptions for another year but do remember that these are an amazingly low cost - typically less than £1 per week for average attendance.  Of course, our rental costs increase each year, so don't be surprised by subscription increases in future years.

Watercolour workshop with Barry Miles

Saturday 27th October

I was sorry to not be available for Barry's workshop but I hear and see that it was a great success.  Many thanks to Chris for organising this and to all attendees for contributing.  I hope you all benefitted.  Let us know if you would like such things organised in future.

Hythe Library exhibition

Just a reminder that we will be having an exhibition of smaller (less than 25cm x 25cm) paintings from 26th November until 8th December.  Please let Chris have the usual details of Title, Artist, Medium and Price by email or by hand by Tuesday 13th November (secretary@watersideartgroup.co.uk)  Please bring your works, suitably protected, to art group by Tuesday 20th November.

Annual General Meeting 2019

Don't forget that our AGM will be on Tuesday 29th January.

Although most of us are content just to attend WAG art evenings and events, the group only continues to function through the commitment of the committee.  We are very grateful to them for their unstinting support.  Do remember that the officers and committee are nominated and elected each year and therefore there is always opportunity for members to offer their services and to be nominated by fellow members.  None of us is becoming any younger and we are not all the fittest so please do seriously consider supporting the group by volunteering your services.  The nomination form will be available on Tuesday evenings from 20th November.  Remember that nominations close 14 days before the AGM, 15th January.

The Group's website

We are pleased that most of our newer members have found us through our website,  watersideartgroup.co.ukThis is always kept up-to-date and contains all relevant information about the group including document downloads.  If you have any suggestions for enhancing the site please let us know on chairman@watersideartgroup.co.uk.

The committee wishes you a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.
